Edited Book on "Metaverse and English Language Teaching"
The concept of the Metaverse has been gaining significant attention in recent years as a virtual
shared space that allows users to engage with digital objects, socialize, and learn in a
collaborative environment. With the rapid advancements in technology, the Metaverse is
expected to have a significant impact on education, including language teaching.
This edited book aims to explore the potential of the Metaverse in the context of English
Language Teaching (ELT). We invite chapter proposals from scholars, practitioners, and
researchers who are interested in exploring the following areas:
AREAS:

● Assessing language learning outcomes in the Metaverse
● Using the Metaverse to promote intercultural communication and understanding
● Exploring the potential of virtual reality and gamification in the Metaverse for language
learning

● Social Presence and Communication in the Metaverse for Language Learning
● Building Communities of Practice in the Metaverse for Language Learning
● Digital Literacy and the Metaverse: Implications for ELT
● Assessment and Evaluation in the Metaverse: Best Practices and Emerging Trends
● Pedagogical Approaches for Teaching in the Metaverse
● Teacher Training and Professional Development for the Metaverse
● Ethical Considerations in the Use of the Metaverse for ELT
● Future Directions for the Metaverse and ELT: Opportunities and Challenges
The above-given areas and chapters are indicative in nature, not exhaustive. You may explore
any other relevant area which may be considered for inclusion in chapters.
We welcome proposals for both theoretical and empirical contributions that provide insights into
the role of the Metaverse in ELT. The chapters should be original and not previously published
or simultaneously under review elsewhere.
Interested authors should submit a 500-word abstract outlining the research focus, theoretical
framework, methodology, and expected outcomes of their proposed chapter by May 30, 2023.

The editors will review the proposals and notify authors of their acceptance by June 30, 2023.
Full chapters (8,000-10,000 words) will be due on October 31, 2023, and will undergo a
double-blind peer review process before the final selection for publication which would cost INR
500/ for the publication process.
