About the Department:
With an interdisciplinary perspective at the heart of its approach, the Department of Humanities
and Social Sciences at NIT Patna provides intellectual and cultural foundations for the study of human relations with society interaction and teaching towards problems solving of the nation in contemporary contexts. The Department, with its diverse expertise offer students in the B. Tech programme courses aimed at developing essential skills in critical thinking and writing along with the knowledge of literature, society, economic value, and philosophies of the mind and body. The Department also offers Doctoral programmes in humanities and social sciences especially in English, Economics, and Sociology besides elective courses for the undergraduate programmes of the institute.

About the Central Library:
NIT Patna offers a state-of-the-art Central Library located opposite the administration
building, providing students and scholars with access to a world of knowledge and information. The Central Library has a collection of 1,67,891 books and other reading materials. There are also 59,849 e-books, 4,342 CDs, 1,759 M. Tech dissertations, 170 Ph.D thesis, 180 complimentary books, and 70 ISER projects. The Central Library is an integral part of the exceptional research and education missions of
the institute and it the pride of NIT Patna. The Central Library’s objective is to enable knowledge development and to provide value-added services by acquiring, organizing and disseminating knowledge resources.
