Celebrating Freedom: Independence Day at NIT Patna
“आज़ादी के अभाव में कौन जीना चाहता है,
कौन जीना चाहता है?
गुलामी की जंजीरें कौन पहनता है,
किसे पड़ी है?"
... रंगलाल बनर्जी
"স্বাধীনতার-হীনতায় কে বাঁচিতে চায় হে,
কে বাঁচিতে চায় ?
দাসত্ব শৃঙ্খল বল কে পরিবে পায় হে,
কে পরিবে পায় ।।"
রঙ্গলাল বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়
15 August 1947 is a memorable day in the history of freedom of India. The national liberation and independence of Mother India have come after the shedding of blood of many brave sons and the self-sacrifice of many heroic martyrs for several centuries. The dawn of this independence was marked by long agitations and struggles that brought down the British monarchy for nearly 200 years.
India has never given up the longing for freedom and the longing for freedom cherished in the temple of the mind for many centuries. Rather, the brave warriors of Mother India have endured endless sufferings, endured persecution and even died in the struggle for motherland, culture and freedom through violent or non-violent movements. Such independence was not a gift of grace or favour from the British monarchy but earned.
The history of the sacrifice of many martyrs is behind the freedom we have gained today. So, on this Independence Day, we pay tribute to the immortal souls of those who gave their lives for the country. In independent India, this day is celebrated with great pomp. Independence Day is very important to every nation. August 15 is a very significant day for us too. Our pledge - we will protect the freedom of the country with our lives.
In the field of international politics and economics, India has set an example of glorious action in the last seventy-five years, which has set an example of national heroism. Despite this, the despair of some broken dreams, and the gloom of despair have touched the minds of the countrymen.
On this day, a breeze of nationalism and integration sweeps the country. To honour the sacrifices made by our ancestors and mark the completion of 76 years of independence, the nation is currently celebrating 77 Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. This Independence Day, India will celebrate its past through Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav while simultaneously making plans for the future. The destiny of our nation is now in the hands of the young people of India.
